Our Story:
LUNESSA Designer Jewelry opened in 2005. Originally intent on finding a workshop space, designer Elise Perelman instead discovered a tiny storefront in SoHo, which proved to be an irresistible opportunity. With a leap of faith and a new baby in her arms, Perelman opened the LUNESSA boutique. The inspiration for LUNESSA, intended to be a haven of beautiful feminine treasures, was inspired by a dream of uncovering gems in an enchanted forest. Perelman is an FIT Fashion Design graduate who began her career fresh out of school, as a Manhattan street artist on fashionable Fifth Avenue. She is primarily a self-taught jeweler, inventing and learning new skills as her inspiration demands. Inspiration comes from dreams, femininity, nature and ethereality, and a love of color, sparkle, and iridescence. Perelman muses, ‘I love the unfolding journey of the creative process and the transformative nature of jewelry, which brings joy and a sense of beauty and identity to the wearer. I enjoy seeing a piece come to life on the right person. It also makes me happy to add a little sparkle and happiness to the world!’
LUNESSA (lu•ness•a) was named to represent the Crescent Moon Goddess and all her treasures – feminine, celestial and spiritual; the embodiment of divine feminine beauty. The Lunessa emblem - the bejeweled butterfly - represents limitless possibility. The butterfly is an ethereal creature that transforms and grows beautiful wings for flight…as with patience and a commitment to one’s inner voice and path, we each do as well.
Elise Perelman and the Lunessa Boutique have collaborated and designed for Bridal designer Jenny Lee (Runway Show Oct 2008), extensively partnered with cosmetics entrepreneur Bobbi Brown, featured on QVC, The Today Show, What Not to Wear with Stacey London, covered in the Style Section of the New York Times Newspaper and New York Times online blogs, and had jewelry showcased in: NY Magazine, Elle, Lucky, InStyle Weddings, Seventeen, Manhattan Bride, The Knot, Martha Stewart Weddings & Time Out NY.
